I like Matsuo Basho, a haiku poet from the Edo period.
He left behind some famous haiku Poems, but the two Haiku Poems I like the most are the following:
(1)
There is an old pond, into which a little frog jumps in with a splash.
The point of this haiku is not the sound of the water as the frog swallows it, but the silence that follows after the sound has disappeared.
(2)
In the mountains, surrounded by towering trees, the sounds of the cicadas seem to soak into the rocks. Standing in this space, my mind gradually becomes calm.
The chirping of the cicadas and the comfort of the forest create a sense of peace of mind.
